Investec Wentworth Private Equity has a successful track record of investing in both private and public companies across a wide variety of industries, including retail, manufacturing, childcare, funeral services, education, IT services, shipping, food and beverage and mining services. We have experience in a wide range of scenarios including expansion capital, roll-ups, management buy outs, family business successions and turnaround situations.
Typically, Investec Wentworth Private Equity invests in businesses with revenues in excess of $50 million, where our investment, both in terms of capital and our expertise, will assist in the growth of the business. As such, we form a partnership with existing stakeholders, including management, to develop and execute a growth plan and create value.

Equity Investment of More than $15 million
We do not have a requirement for a majority shareholding position in any investment. We are flexible on deal size and currently have access to more than $200 million of unspent committed funds.1 Our minimum target investment amount is $15 million for each investment. However, our deep relationship with a wide network of private investors as well as the Investec Group's ability to co-invest, allows us to make much larger equity investments if we come across any suitable opportunities.
Established Operating History
We generally invest in businesses with an established operating cash flow history and revenue of over $50 million with strong growth potential. We do not invest in pure start-up businesses.
Active Input from Investec Wentworth Private Equity
We will appoint members of the Investec Wentworth Private Equity team to the company's Board to drive and execute the business strategy. We look for businesses where our industry experience and expertise in mergers and acquisitions, finance, and corporate governance can benefit all shareholders.
Strong Management Team
We believe that a strong management team with an on-going commitment to growth is crucial to the success of the business. We work closely with and support strong management teams and will ensure our visions and goals are aligned before we make an investment.
Australia/New Zealand Based
Although we will selectively consider overseas investments, the majority of our portfolio companies are based in Australia and New Zealand, some with global operations.
Investec Wentworth Private Equity will generally not invest in the following areas:
- Early stage or pure technology
- Agriculture
- Resources exploration
- Aviation
